Beary Welfare Association awards scholarships to students; Mangalore

MANGALORE: Beary’s Welfare Association, Bangalore had organised a Bearys’ Merit cum Means Scholarship -2010 at the conference hall of Yenepoya Hospital, on Sunday, July 18.

U T Khadar, MLA, Mangalore north constituency who distributed the Scholorship advised that students should mingle with all communities to understand the values of a multicultural society.

He was delivering the presidential address at the distribution of Scholarship -2010 and advised the students not to miss any opportunity to develop social contact along with their studies. He also told that students should concentrate on education and pursue higher education and contribute to the society in which they have been born and brought up.

More than 80 students who scored good marks in SSLC and PUC examinations, despite their povertywere awarded with scholarships at the programme.

N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor of NITTE University, who was the chief guest of the occasion, called upon the students to pay back the debt to the society by contributing for its overall development in the future.

He also requested the Muslim organisations and religious institutions to dedicate themselves for the overall upliftment the society or community rather than confining themselves to mere religious activities.

Umar TK, Y Mohammed Beary, President, Muslim Educational Institutions Federation, Ahmed Bajal and Umar UH were among those present during this function.
